This collection documents the career of the University of Miami President Henry King Stanford (April 22, 1916 – January 1, 2009). Contained within are correspondence to and from Henry King Stanford, newspaper clippings, photographs, speeches, research files, scrapbooks, ephemera, and memorabilia that once belonged to him.

Henry Reich, Jr. was a poet and author, member of the American Literary League, a previous New York secretary of the Rebel Poets, and a frequent contributor to newspapers and magazines. The collection predominantly consists of Reich's correspondence, and his poetry and articles. The form of these poems and articles range include manuscripts, typescripts, clippings, scrapbook compilations, and periodicals and books in which Reich's poetry appeared. Notably, four issues of The Jewish Forum from 1927 in which Reich was published are included.

Also included are several photographs of Reich.

This collection contains one audiotape of a lecture given by Herbert Aptheker on April 20, 1966 at the University of Miami Student Union.

This collection contains correspondence, research materials, drafts, legal and administrative files, and other archival materials belonging to writer and professor Dr. Herbert Zim (1909-1994).

The Herman Beller Photograph Collection contains photograph of metal works done by Herman Beller's (1899-1972) Havana, Cuba-based company, Industrias Unidas de Cuba. The photographs detail works in parks, schools, and public areas and buildings all installed during the 1920s to 1950s. Several small examples of metal pieces cast by Beller are also included in the collection.

The Herminio Portell Vilá Papers (1901-1992) include research writings, bibliographic notes, and clippings about events in Cuba and Latin America during his exile time in the United States (1960-1992) . Materials also consist of radio transcripts, audio materials of radio programs, memorabilia and correspondence of the Cuban historian and scholar Herminio Portell Vilá.  His primary research interests focused on early U.S.-Cuban relations, but his papers also include materials about those relations in the 20th century and revolutionary Cuba.

Hervey Allen was a literature professor, poet, World War I veteran, and Trustee of the University of Miami from 1936 until 1949, the year that he died. Allen had a formative influence on the "Friends of the University" organization, as well as on Latin American studies at the University.

The collection consists of letters both by Allen and about Allen after his passing away, clippings about Allen and his writings, photographs, photocopies and typescripts of Allen's writings, and obituaries including an official University of Miami memorial.

A collection of slides (approximately 18,000) from the travels of the Geographer Hilgard O'Reilly, featuring Brazil, Latin America, and Asia.

This collection contains records relating to the Teatro 8 theater company in Miami, Florida, run by the Hispanic Theater Guild organization. Items include theater ephemera and posters, audiovisual materials of performances, awards and certificates, financial records, clippings, scripts, scrapbooks, and promotional materials.

"The Historic Black Church Oral History Film Project represents an unprecedented campus-community partnership intended to preserve the rich cultural and social history of faith-based communities of color in South Florida, support university-wide interdisciplinary collaboration, and educate a new generation of high school, college, and graduate students about the crucial leadership role of Historic Black Churches in Afro-Caribbean-American communities." -UM Law School Center for Ethics and Public Service (CEPS).

This collection includes DVDs of the "Historic Black Church Oral History" films, publications documenting the project, flyers, ephemera, and invitations for community screenings.

The Historical Documents Collection includes letters, deeds, bonds, receipts, orders, position appointments, writings, and other documents that are individual in nature and do not belong to any particular collection. The materials represent a number of prominent figures in the areas of art, literature, music, science, scholarship, business, law, military, politics, diplomacy, and religion. The items range in date from 1642-1977, but the bulk date from the 1760s through the 1920s. Most of the materials are American in origin, although some are from Mexico and Europe, particularly Great Britain.

This collection contains typescripts, photocopies and photographs regarding the history of the confederate submarine H. L. Hunley.

This collection consists of publications for the planning and building of Florida homes primarily, but not exclusively, targeted to returning war veterans.  The majority of the pamphlets and guidebooks in this collection were distributed through contractors, builders, and real estate agencies located primarily in the Florida region during the 1940s and 50s.

The papers document activities of Hortensia Montero (1909-1998), Cuban mezzosoprano and composer. Materials include photographs, autographed notes, programs, diplomas, clippings and music scores.

The scrapbook includes photographs, clippings, and an invitation documenting the activities of the Children Hospital "San Juan de Dios" in Camaguey, Cuba.

A collection of papers, photographs, scrapbooks, ephemera and other objects that document various cultural scenes in Miami from the 1980s to the present, with an emphasis on the art, nightclub and drag subcultures.

The Human Rights Oral History Project digital collection of the Cuban Heritage Collection includes videos and outlines of oral history interviews with Cuban dissidents.  In its first phase, the project focuses on the Black Spring of 2003 when the Cuban government arrested 75 activists.  Interviews were conducted with a number of the dissidents who served time in prison as part of the Grupo de los 75(Group of the 75) and with members of the Damas de Blanco (Ladies in White), an organization of the wives, mothers, daughters, and other female relatives of jailed dissidents.  The Human Rights Oral History Project was launched in 2013 with funding from the Marlins Foundation.

Collection consists of catalogues and folders with the reproductions of Humberto Calzada's paintings and a poster.

The Humberto Mayol Photograph collection contains 34 black and white photographs of the Jewish community in Cuba taken by Havana-based photographer Humberto Mayol. These photographs were published in the book "An Island Called Home: Returning to Jewish Cuba" by Ruth Behar (Rutgers UP, 2007).

The Humberto Medrano collection consists of news clippings, correspondence, and handwritten letters to and from Humberto Medrano (1916-2012) on the subject of Cuban political prisoners in the 1970s.

The Humberto Piñera Llera papers contains the personal papers of Humberto Piñera Llera, Cuban philosopher, essayist, literary critic and educator. Documents in the collection include correspondence, manuscripts of articles written by Piñera for Diario de las Américasand other periodicals, along with newspaper and magazine clippings of articles on literature, philosophy and Cuba. The collection also contains manuscripts of his conference speeches, class lectures and syllabi and outlines of courses taught by him from 1961 to 1986. The working papers for two of his major works, Idea, sentimiento y sendibilidad de José Martíand Sastre y su idea de la libertad, can be found in the collection, along with original manuscripts of books authored by others. A section of the collection houses papers relating to Piñera’s brother, playright Virgilio Piñera Llera (1912-1979). A series of diplomas, commendations and certificates of merit awarded to Humberto Piñera round out the collection.

The collection consists of correspondence from a Cuban writer, Anita Arroyo to Julia Rodríguez Tomeu, letters from Cuban intellectuals, which were part of a personal archive of Dr. Néstor Carbonell, who was an Ambassador of Cuba in Buenos Aires, typescript of a play and short story by Rodríguez-Tomeu.

This collection includes documents, photographs, correspondence, clippings and other materials related to Toomey's employment with the New York, Rio and Buenos Aires Airline, Panair do Brasil, and Pan American World Airways from 1929-1961.

The Hurford Janes papers contain about 200 pages letters to and from Hurford Janes for his proposed biography of James A. M. Whistler, the American painter. The collection also contains several newspapers, photocopies of old letters, postcards, pages of poetry, and two manuscripts: one of the biography and one titled "The Whistler Mystery."

The Hurricane Andrew collection contains two different series of materials regarding the 1992 hurricane.

Series I consists of photographs, writings, and artwork made by children representing their Hurricane Andrew experience. The majority of the materials are photographs, negatives, prints, photographic slides, writings about those photographs, and administrative documents from a project done at Southwood Middle School titled "The Eye of the Storm through the Eye of the Child." Administered and organized by Colette Stemple, a photography teacher at the school, the photographs depict damage done to their homes and their neighborhoods, and have accompanying text written by the children as well. The project was eventually on display in the Miami Art Museum one year after the landfall of Andrew, under the same name. Also included are drawings, poems, a bound volume titled "Hands On: The Day the Winds Came... Migrant Children Write About the Effects of Hurricane Andrew," reflections written by Caribbean Elementary School students, and a folder scrapbook on Hurricane Andrew's effects titled "In the Wake of Andrew."

Series II contains historic Miami Herald newspapers chronicling the Hurricane's impending landfall in South Florida, the actual landfall, and several weeks of the aftermath.

This album contains 160 color photographs of the damage caused by Hurricane Katrina on the Coral Gables campus in 2005. The pictures were taken by the University of Miami Department of Risk Management on August 25, 2005, and donated to the University Archives in 2008.

This album contains 126 color photographs and 2 CDs that captured the damage caused by Hurricane Wilma on the Coral Gables campus in 2005. The pictures were taken by the University of Miami Department of Risk Management on October 23 and 24, 2005 and donated to the University Archives in 2008.

The collection contains one letter from Julio Yelua [?] to Alberto Vazquez, 1960; six photographs, including two of Varadero Beach (1918-1921), a photograph of the University of Havana School of Medicine Class of 1923 standing in front of “Kasalta” restaurant in Havana (1940), two group portraits, and an image of the Florida Havana Railroad Car Ferry (undated); and one reproduction of the seal of the University of Havana. The items were inherited by the donor from her great-uncle, Dr. Adolfo Bock.

This collection contains photographs originally from the 1950s that were used to create the Ibis yearbooks of that era.

The Ignacio Carrera-Jústiz Papers contain architectural drawings for Barcardí's historic office buildings in Miami.

The collection contains Plans and Specifications for the Construction of an Office Building for Bacardí Imports, Inc.

The Ileana Ros-Lehtinen Collection contains clippings, brochures, and campaign material from U.S. Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen.

The Immigrant Archive Project Interviews contain DVD copies of interviews with Cuban and Cuban-Americans for the Immigrant Archive Project, produced by the Latino Broadcasting Company. Interviews in the Cuban Heritage Collection holdings include actor Tony Plana, congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and writer Carlos Moore, among others.

This collection contains 9 black and white promotional photographs of classes taught in the Industrial Education Department of the University of Miami in 1951. The photographs show classes in bookbinding, printing, working with plastics and sheet metal, welding, and woodworking.  The size of the photos are 7.5 x 9.5 inches glued onto 8 x10 inch matte boards.

In addition, there are two press articles about the department (1954 and 1955) and brochures promoting the profession of industrial art teacher (no date).

These papers document Inés Segura Bustamante's (1919-2002) multiple professional, political and artistic activities. She was a clinical psychologist, member of Directorio Estudiantil, writer, painter, composer and lyricist. Segura Bustamante worked as a professor of psychology at the University of Havana. She left Cuba after the Communist Revolution and she continued her work as a psychologist and writer in the U.S, where she authored several books. Segura Bustamante studied music and piano and wrote a significant amount of songs. She also studied painting and some of her pictorial works are held in the Lowe Art Museum in Miami.

The bulk of the papers consists of manuscripts of musical scores, song lyrics and writings on children's psychological development. The materials also include clippings, typescripts and photographs of the "Directorio Estudiantil Universitario 1930," clippings and reports of "Junta Patriótica Cubana," correspondence, clippings of articles on Cuba and Cuban exiles, articles by Segura Bustamante and about her, manuscripts of her poems, a copy of "Bohemia," books annotated by Segura Bustamante, a manuscript of "Cuba Siglo XX y la generación de 1930" and a manuscript of a book on child's psychology.

The Instituto de Estudios Cubanos records includes administrative records, conference materials, academic work by IEC members. The collection also contains a small amount of personal papers of IEC’s founder and long-time leader, María Cristina Herrera. This collection primarily documents the administrative and academic output of the Instituto de Estudios Cubanos, a Miami-based think tank founded by Herrera in the late 1960s to the early 2000s that worked to promote peaceful dialogue on Cuban politics and policy issues.

The Instituto de Profesionales Hispanos Retirados was created in 1984 by Pablo Chao along with the collaboration of Dr. Julio Garcerán de Vals. The Instituto offered a seasonal program of conferences all held at the Koubek Center in Miami, Florida, which was under the administration of the University of Miami School of Continuing Studies. This collection is comprised of conference writings, mostly authored by Fernando Escobio, Luis René García Fernández, Mario Filippi, and Mázimo Sorondo.

This collection features several posters documenting the AIDS awareness movement from the 80's to the present to educate people about the HIV/AIDS epidemic and prevent its spread in various countries of the world. Nations currently represented in the collection are Brazil, Germany, United States, and South Africa.

The International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) is a progressive, diversified trade union that primarily represents operating engineers, who work as heavy equipment operators, mechanics, and surveyors in the construction industry, and stationary engineers, who work in operations and maintenance in building and industrial complexes, and in the service industries. IUOE also represents nurses and other health industry workers, a significant number of public employees engaged in a wide variety of occupations, as well as a number of job classifications in the petrochemical industry (https://www.iuoe.org/). This collection focuses on Local 487, based in Miami, FL, and their minutes and bylaws from 1911 to 2012.

The 90 minute video recording contains an oral history interview of Mrs. Marcella U. (Ungar) Werblow.  She was a daughter of Arthur A. Ungar, who was a trustee of the university from 1930s to 1960s.  She was also an aunt of Leonard Abess, Jr., a former chair of the Board of Trustees.

In the interview, Mrs. Werblow discusses her childhood in Miami, including the 1926 hurricane, her education, attending the University of Miami, her father’s involvement with the University of Miami, the Orange Bowl, Westview Country Club and other community causes, as well as anti-Semitism in Miami history.

The interview was conducted by Arva Moore Parks McCabe, a renowned anthor and Miami historian, a trustee of the University of Miami, and an ardent supporter of the University of  Miami Libraries.

The oral history program was funded by the University of Miami Libraries, and the project was coordinated by Laura Capell, Digital Special Collections and Oral Histories Librarian.

Ione Wright, a Professor Emeritus at the University of Miami, researched the development of Pan American Airlines' Transpacific service. The Ione Wright papers contain documents, oral histories, photographs, operations manuals, maps, and other materials related to the history of Pan American Airlines, including materials related to Victor Wright and materials documenting the establishment of routes in the Pacific.

The topical files document a variety of subjects related to Pan American Airlines, dating from 1920-1986. Ione Wright compiled many of the files during her research on the airline’s activities in the Pacific, including correspondence with former Pan Am employees and oral history transcripts. Also included are photographs, files related to the China Clipper, and a variety of Pan Am publications.

The collection also contains navigation manuals and operations manuals for Pan Am airplanes, including the B-727, the DC-4, the DC-6, and the DC-7, as well as operations manuals for Pan American Airlines’ Latin American Division.

Also included a variety of maps and aviation charts for parts of the United States, South America, and the Caribbean, as well as route maps for Pan American Airlines, and a map of the United States by John Melish from 1816.

This collection contains photographs, handbooks, correspondence, and other administrative documents created and collected by the Iota Alpha Pi Sorority.

Irma Goebel Labastille was a composer and writer interested in Latin American folk music. Her work culminated in a series of scores titled Recuerdo Latino-Americano. The Irma Goebel Labastille collection consists primarily of sheet music, notebooks of sheet music, clippings, poetry, photographs, notes, and manuscripts.

The University of Miami Iron Arrow Honor Society collection contains the official records of the Society dating from 1926 to the present. Items in the collection include organizational records, member directories, programs, bulletins, event ephemera, resumes, periodicals, awards, correspondence, financial records, press releases, photographs, photograph albums, flags, clippings, and jackets worn by the members. 

The Irving A. Leonard collection contains materials related to Kirk Munroe (1850-1930), a writer of children's stories and a journalist who lived for approximately forty years in Coconut Grove. Much of the collection consists of typed copies or photocopies of letters, diary entries, bibliographies, essays, and newspaper articles, but some unique photographs and correspondence with family members of Munroe is included as well.

Irving Stone (July 14, 1903 – August 26, 1989) was an American writer known for his biographical novels of famous historical personalities. The papers contain a 1944 manuscript for his book Immortal Wife, the Biographical Novel of Jessie Benton Fremont.

The Isaac Bashevis Singer Collection consists predominantly of correspondence written to Singer during the years 1978 to 1982. The correspondence is divided topically into the following categories: agent correspondence, autograph and photograph requests, fan mail, financial papers, Hebrew and Yiddish correspondence, legal affairs, miscellaneous, "new writer" requests (letters from authors asking Singer to read their work), personal, protocol, publicity, publisher and producer correspondence, requests for information, requests for money, and requests for interviews or speaking engagements.

Also included are manuscripts by Singer, periodicals, brochures, photocopies, and clippings with content from or about Singer, and writings by other authors.

The collection documents activities of Dr. J. A. Embil in capacity of a professor of Microbiology and Community Health and Epidemiology, and as an associate professor of Pediatrics at Dalhousie University and the Isaak Walton Kiliam Hospital for children in Halifax, Canada.  The materials include publications of scholarly works and clippings of articles written by Embil about infectious virus diseases.

Bound folio and a loose sheet of music of "Trilogy from the Song of Solomon," consisting of the songs:

This collection contains a 1900-1901 daily travel diary written by Dr. J. Garner. In the diary, J. Garner describes his experiences with British army Major H. H. (Herbert Henry) Austin's expedition that traveled from Cairo, Egypt to Zeila, Somalia via Lake Rudolf. In Major Austin's "Through the Sudan to Mombasa via Lake Rudolf" (published in Scottish Geographical Magazine, Vol. XVIII, 1902), Austin notes that a Dr. J. Garner joined the expedition in Cairo around the 7th of December - a few days prior to the beginning entry of Garner's travel diary - and mentions Garner throughout.

Garner's diary begins on December 14, 1900 and ends on September 6, 1901. At the end of the diary, Garner kept a list of deaths of members of the expedition, the reasons for which include "exhaustion," "shot for killing donkey," "heat apoplexy," and "speared by natives." Throughout the entries, Garner describes the condition of the men's health, the reasons why they fell ill and died, his own illnesses, the geography and climate of the land, and the social life and customs of the people that were encountered. There are several illustrations of the camp set-up as well.

The J. H. Brown Papers contains eight photographs of pilots training at the University of Miami during World War II.

The J. Lipscomb photograph collection contains photographic reproductions of paintings of the city and harbor of Havana by famed artist Frédéric Mialhe, 1810-1881.

The papers document activities of J. M. Portuondo in capacity of a professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Havana, a writer and a faculty member of the University of Miami School of Medicine.  The materials include books, pamphlets, periodicals, clippings, circular letters, typescripts of anti-communist writings by Portuondo, reports, a poem by Portuondo, speeches by him, copies of his medical diplomas, a historical map of Havana, and photostats of a photograph and of a letter from José Martí to José Portuondo.

This collection features the personal papers, theses, research, teaching materials, and writings of former University of Miami Spanish Language and History Professor, Jacob Riis Owre, who was an integral part of forming the University of Miami's Hispanic-American Studies program in 1937.

A copy of American composer Jack Beeson's sheet music with corrections for the opera, "Hello out there" (1953). The papers also include a letter from the composer.

The Jamaica Manuscripts Collection contains 20 documents, most of which concern Jamaica in a variety of ways (others are regarding the British West Indies at large). Included, among other things, are plantation records, correspondence, journals, official documents such as power of attorney documents and affidavits, notes on the climate of Jamaica, and Spanish reports on English possessions.  Some of these are originals, where others are later 20th century documents about Jamaica or typescripts of letters.

The James Baxter collection contains Florida related materials. Included are a deed of sale and title of a house in Flagler; theater publications from the Coconut Grove Playhouse, the Miami Summer Star Theater, and the Dade County Auditorium Playgoer; postcards from Key West, Ft. Lauderdale, Port Everglades, Fort Myers, Palm Beach, and Miami Beach; a series of photographs of historic sites in Florida, largely lighthouses; a 1903 periodical titled "Liberty Boys of '76: The Liberty Boys in Florida, 1903"; an 1883 Vol XIX issue of Dime Beadle's New York Library, subtitled "Alligator Ike; or The Secret of the Everglade. A Tale of the Outlaws of the Okeechobee"; and a photocopy of the latter periodical.

The James F. O'Boyle Papers contains two manuscripts, one titled "The Coke Twins" and dated 1985, and other titled "Black Night, Black Dawn" and dated 1995.

The James Hutchinson Exhibition Catalog collection includes catalogs for an exhibition of Seminole Indian paintings by James Hutchinson at the Lowe Art Museum.

The Carson papers contain correspondence, newspaper clippings, outlines and drafts of campaign speeches.  The materials, dated 1915-16, document Carson's efforts to enlist a candidate in support of drainage of the Everglades, his efforts on behalf of the Farris campaign, and his views on the drainage issue.  Correspondence also provides information on the activities of other groups supporting the Farris campaign, including the Everglade Drainage and Development League, "the Commercial Bodies of Miami and Ft. Lauderdale" and the Boards of Trade of Dania and Pompano.  Additional letters and newspaper clippings provide supporting documentation on the role of the drainage issue in the 1916 gubernatorial campaign.

The James Merrick Smith and Hal F. B. Birchfield collection contains images, letters, news articles, DVDs and a CDs highlighting the stellar lives, careers and involvement of James Merrick Smith and Hal Birchfield in their personal, professional and civic activities.

With his vision of design becoming much more than the up-market selling of merchandise, James Merrick Smith set about the machinery of change that would make interior design a legitimate and accredited profession.   This progression would require the development of education, testing, administration and implementation and then onward to governmental accreditation. James Merrick Smith was the person that not only had the vision but the guts and the charisma and good fortune to find others to help fulfill this dream of professionalization of the field of interior design. Life partner Hal Birchfield would also be a part of this much involved process. And among other facets of their lives was the matter of the highly respected professional work the office of James Merrick Smith and Hal Birchfield achieved, setting high professional standards for interior design excellence.

The James S. Penny photograph collection contains 36 black and white photographs taken by University of Miami Journalism Professor James S. Penny and his students depicting University of Miami and other Miami-related subjects from 1948 to 1952.

There are two folders in this collection, the first of which is titled "33 Photographs taken by James Penny (Prof of Journalism at U of M) and his students from 1948-1952."  The second folder is titled "U of M students of Journalism - 1 photograph; and Exhibition at the U of Missouri of the Annual Photography Contest Winners - 2 photographs."

This collection contains photograph albums and audio-visual materials documenting the various events Jan Mapou had taken part in and organized for Sosyete Koukouy (The Fireflies Society) and Libreri Mapou.

Janet Reno (1938-2016) was born in Miami, FL and was an American lawyer, the first woman to serve as State Attorney for Florida (1978-1993), and first woman to serve as Attorney General of the United States (1993-2001). Her papers include personal correspondence and files, topic files, campaign materials, court documents, newspaper clippings, as well as videotapes, photographs, and audiocassettes pertaining to Janet Reno’s years of service as the State Attorney for Florida, her time as Attorney General of the United States, and when she ran for governor of Florida.

A collection of contemporary zines created by Japanese women as part of an exhibit entitled "Feminine," which was curated by  Tokyo's Zine's Mate and presented at the 2011 New York Art Book Fair. This archive was once part of the personal collection of Matt Wobensmith, who created the zine Outpunk and is known for being an avid zine collector and zine show curator.

The zines in this collection represent a wide array of genres, often utilizing photography, art, writing, and ephemera to create unique art pieces that are produced in limited quantities and locally distributed. They primarily showcase the viewpoints of modern Asian and Asian-American underground artists with such noted topics as fashion, sexuality, gender, travel, social issues, education, and self-expression. Written in both Japanese and English, many of the zines exhibit a heavy array of western influence, referencing western folklore, cinema, and pop culture as well as adopting western-inspired punk and alternative fashion. There is a spirit of freedom and unrestrained creativity that pervades this selection, captured by many crude sketches, both black and white and colorful, think pieces, and abstract drawings, all which serve to produce an intriguing snapshot of the growing art and zine movement in Japan in the 21st century.

Jason Handelsman is a writer/journalist based in Miami. This collection consists of zines and zine originals for his project, "Untitled Rough Manuscript for the President's Reality Show," his journals, personal notes, and other writings.

The Javier Figueroa collection contains materials related to the Directorio Revolutionary Estudiantil (D.R.E.), as well as documents related to President John F. Kennedy and Cuba.

The Jay A. Weber Papers contains two notebooks on the collection of birds, as well as some other animals, in Florida and in Cuba.

This collection contains speeches, interviews, scrapbooks, programs, writings, newspaper clippings, and other items from the office of Jay F. W. Pearson, second president of the University of Miami.

Jay Fish was president of the Miami Geological Society, Inc. The Jay Fish Papers consist of documents pertaining to a 1983 symposium held by the Miami Geological Society, titled "Geology of South Florida." Many of the documents are letters, typescripts, maps, photographs, and essays sent to Fish by scientists wishing to present at the symposium. However, several periodicals on geology are included as well.

The papers consist of typescripts and hand drawn maps for her biographical work on telegraph innovator Cyrus W. Field, stage actor Joseph Jefferson, the pirate Sir Francis Drake, U.S. governor Sam Houston and civil war officer David Glasgow Farragut to name a few.

Jeanne Perkins Harmans was a journalist and writer residing in the Virgin Islands of the United States. The collection consists of materials from and regarding the Virgin Islands on a wide range of issues in the late 1950s and early 1960s, including political conditions and controversies, tourism, description of the islands, and race and sexuality concerns on the islands. Many of the items consist of correspondence with and type-written notes by Harmans, or clippings from newspaper articles by Harmans and others; but there are also reports, periodicals, brochures, bibliographies, and maps. Some of the correspondence concerns Harmans's publishing activities, including that of a 1691 book titled "The Virgins: Magic Islands." A signed copy of this book was contained in the collection, but later separated out and housed with the Special Collections monographs.

A collection of photographs, albums, scrapbooks, documents, monographs, postcards, ephemera, and periodicals pertaining to the Gaskell family and their history in Florida.

This collection contains typed manuscripts, drafts, poems, periodicals, publications, correspondence, news clippings, photographs, slides, negatives, VHS tapes, audiocassette tapes, CDs and other archival materials from the local South Floridian poet, Jeffrey Knapp (1949-2011). Also included in the collection are photographs and research materials on the South Floridian artist, Betti Bernay (also known as Betty Godlfarb; 1926-2010).

Jerome Greene was a commissioner and later vice-chairman of the board of the Urban Renewal Agency for Dade County, Florida, as well as the chairman of the Save Urban Renewal Committee of 1964. His papers concern his involvement with the above.

The collection consists of two groupings of materials. The first is a donation of photographs, ephemeral documents, correspondence, and clippings related to Jewish organizations and synagogues in Cuba given by Ramón Cernuda in 2013. The Jill Flanders-Crosby papers contain photographs, cassettes, DV tapes, and DVDs related to Flanders-Crosby's fieldwork related to Afro-Cuban religious dance practices.

The Jim Cason Photograph Collection contains photographs from former Principal Officer of the US Interests Section in Havana Jim Cason's (b. 1945) time in Cuba from 2002 to 2005.

The collection consists of digital photographs and a talking doll of Jim Cason that was distributed during his time as the Principal Officer of the US Interests Section in Havana, Cuba.

The collection consists of photographic reproductions of magazine covers and popular Cuban product advertisements, taken from the periodicals holdings of the Cuban Heritage Collection.

The Joan Sturhahn Papers contains a typescript with corrections of her 1976 work Carvalho, Artist-Photographer-Adventurer-Patriot: Portrait of a Forgotten American. This typescript, however, is titled "Solomon Nunes Carvalho, Recorder of History with Brush and Lens, 19th Century American Scene."

Also included is a note from Sturhahn to Dr. Charlton Tebeau that accompanied the typescript sent to him.

Joaquín de Yturralde y López Silvero was the Consul of Spain in Havana in the 1920s during the presidencies of Dr. Alfredo Zayas and General Gerardo Machado y Morales. His papers contain correspondence from 1925 to 1926 and other materials such as invitations, programs, and financial records.

The papers document professional activities of Joaquín Meyer, a prominent figure in Cuban sugar industry, the Alternate Executive Director of International Bank for Reconstruction and Development for Mexico, Cuba, Peru, Uruguay, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua; a Representative of the Cuban Sugar Stabilization Institute in Washington and Financial Councilor of the Cuban Embassy. Bulk of the materials consists of correspondence. The materials also include photographs, documents, reports, pamphlets, memorabilia, diplomas and albums with photographs and clippings. The materials consist of reports on sugar cane industry, reports on World's sugar production, documents from Cuban Embassy in Washington DC, documents on US-Cuba relations and economic trade, memoranda about amendments to sugar legislature in US, clippings from 1959 about Fidel Castro, transcripts, international sugar reports, typescript of the International Sugar agreement.

Joaquín Roy is Jean Monnet Professor of European Integration at the University of Miami and Co-Director of the European Union Center of Excellence, Miami. The collection consists of personal materials and documents from organizations or programs in which Dr. Roy was personally involved.

Series I contains typescripts, books, and publications from the Letras de Oro program organized by the North-South Center at the University of Miami. This program awarded prizes and published novels, poetry, theater plays, essays, and literary criticism in the Spanish language.
