The majority of the items found in this collection are photographs, negatives, and contact sheets of university buildings, its people, and events taken by the Office of Media Relations from the 1940s to the 1990s. Press releases, university publications, correspondence, and other materials created by the department are also available in the collection.

The Office of Media Relations is a department of the University Communications, and they are responsible for communicating information regarding the University’s achievements, faculty research, programs, and events to the local, regional, national, and international news media.

Series I - Buildings 1943-1994 (press releases, clippings and photographs of UM buildings) [Box 1-3]

Series II - Citizens Board 1974-1988 (photographs of members and events) [Box 4]

Series III - Faculty and Staff 1962-1994 (photographs of administrators, faculty, and staff) [Box 5]

Series IV - Photographs 1971-1989 (of UM schools and departments) [Box 6-8]

Series V - Topical Files (publications, press clippings and correspondence on UM-related subjects) [Box 9-11]

Boxes 12-23 are unprocessed.

This collection is only partially processed (Boxes 1-11) but open for research.

This collection is kept in an off-campus storage facility. Please contact the University Archivist, Nick Iwanicki, at ngi5@miami.edu with the boxes you are interested in prior to your visit, and allow up to 1 week for delivery of materials.
