History

The College of Arts and Sciences, originally called the College of Liberal Arts, was one of the first two academic units of the University of Miami. It opened in the fall of 1926 with the aim of covering all subjects except music and art and is now the largest college of the University.

The College was established as a community of scholars and students that to this day encourages the quest for a deeper understanding of the human experience and fosters a personal commitment to lifelong learning, intellectual growth, and the enduring values of the liberal arts.
