Âmbito e conteúdo
"A nicely captioned album assembled by an American family, documenting their 1906 and 1907 tour of the West Indies and Bermuda aboard the S.S. Prinzessin Victoria Louisa and the S.S. Bermudian. The first 31 images depict the West Indies, with a series of well composed images focusing on Afro-Caribbean and local youths and laborers, a parade of workers loading coal at St. Thomas, street views in St. Thomas, the St. Thomas Market, street youths in Puerto Rico, and pearl divers at Nassau. There are also interesting images of the lives of the wealthy white passengers on the ship, including images of lavish tea services. The rest of the album focuses on Hamilton and St. George's in Bermuda, including many photos of local landmarks and nature sights. Also provides photos of the Governor's residence, the Coral Cliffs and Devil's Hole." --description from Buckingham Books, bookseller
