"Wide angle aerial photograph showing West Flagler Street in Miami looking East from 13th street as the city recovered from the Hurricane of 1926. A contemporary annotation on the back notes that 'the water was this deep for almost four days after the storm. Note the heart of the city in the distance.' Commercial photographer Verne O. Williams was noted for publishing panoramic photographs.
A long double line of cars can be seen driving through the flooded roadway, with damaged buildiungs on the left and a washed out gas station on the right. Across the street from the gas station is the Dixie Diner perched above the flood with its sign still advertising 'Steak Chops and A La Carte.'"
