Florida Memorial collection

This collection contains periodicals, memorabilia, correspondence, ephemera, promotional materials, event programs, booklets, reports, photographs, scrapbooks, music sheets, realia, vinyl records, and other materials documenting South Florida history. Most of the materials pertain in particular to Miami Beach and notable figures to its history, such as Hy Gardner, Paul M. Bruun, Albert Pick, and former Miami Beach mayors Kenneth Oka and Herbert Frink. The collection also features photographs and materials from past beauty pageants held in Miami Beach.

This collection features an array of scrapbooks, many of which are homemade, from the 19th and 20th centuries. Subjects covered in these scrapbooks include fashion, advertising, history, Robert Louis Stevenson, Pat Cannon's congressional run, garden clubs, cruises, and more. These scrapbooks are comprised of portraits, photographs, postcards, newspaper clippings, programs, brochures, maps, drawings, telegrams, and more. Some of the creators are unknowns or names without renown, but these scrapbooks highlight their personal tastes and interests, offering some unique insight into their lives.

Julian D. Corrington Papers

The Julian Corrington Papers contain teaching and academic files concerning the University of Miami in addition to materials on scientific research and literature. Class records and course materials, dated 1944-63, include syllabi, memos, lecture notes, book lists, lists of research topics, correspondence with students and student recommendations. Other correspondence and memos, relating to the Biology Department discuss such topics as the curriculum, course requirements, faculty meetings and building plans. University of Miami "faculty notices," and "university memoranda" cover announcements of library news, information on education, and the Science Department. The records also contain publications such as "Self Portrait of a University," and a program from the 1962 dedication of the Otto G. Richter Library. Correspondence with faculty of other universities discusses the merits of general introductory science courses versus more specialized instruction.

Several files contain manuscripts and correspondence dealing with publications. Other files include materials on the electron microscope and include photographs taken through the microscope, reprints of articles and news clippings relating to the microscope. "Field Check Lists," dated 1917-21, and field trip reports record observations on the sea coast at Georgetown University. Photographs document trips led by Corrington. Reprints and publications on various scientific topics as well as and bulletins, newsletters, and programs from various scientific and scholarly organizations are included in files. Additional files of particular interest contain newspaper clippings and literature from various organizations on eugenics, genetics and the teaching of evolution. Corrington collected these materials, dated 1920-44, for inclusion in class lectures.

Coral Gables Garden Club records

Originally conceived and organized in 1925, the Coral Gables Garden Club has served the local city of Coral Gables in its planning by helping create and nurture its many gardens and beautiful landscapes. The club was founded by Eunice Peacock Merrick and Althea Merrick out of a shared love of horticulture and has grown considerably since then and maintained their commitment to civic improvement through gardening. Today, the club is composed of 150 community members who actively contribute to Coral Gables' local institutions and businesses, including providing scholarships and educational programs, as well as assisting youth-oriented gardening clubs.

Their records contain scrapbooks, meeting minutes, president papers, yearbooks, guestbooks, photographs, programs, pamphlets, news clippings, awards, ephemera, administrative documents, and other archival materials, all pertaining to the club and its various events and initiatives over the years.

The Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts Incubator records include the gallery's organizational records, administrative documents, artists' information, resumes, artists' profiles, programs, invitations, slides, catalogs, photographs, audio-visual materials (VHS tapes, CD-ROMs, CDs, audiocassettes), notes, and event ephemera.

Sofía Ímber collection

This collection currently contains several exhibit catalogs, mainly from the Sofía Ímber Contemporary Art Museum of Caracas (Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Caracas Sofía Ímber), DVDs featuring interviews with Sofía Ímber and covering famous Venezuelan and international artists, politicians, and writers, CD-Rs, a collection of fliers from local photography exhibitions in Coral Gables, newspaper clippings of articles either about or by Sofía Ímber or Guillermo Meneses, oversized exhibit posters, and digital correspondence and photographs stored in external hard-drives.
