Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts Incubator was created to promote, nurture, and cultivate the visions and diverse talents of emerging artists from the Caribbean and the Latin American Diaspora through exhibitions, artists in residence programs, international exchanges, and education and outreach activities that celebrate Miami-Dade's rich cultural and social fabric. The Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts Incubator records include the gallery's organizational records, administrative documents, artists' information, resumes, artists' profiles, programs, invitations, slides, catalogs, photographs, audio-visual materials (VHS tapes, CD-ROMs, CDs, audiocassettes), notes, and event ephemera.
The Rosa Lowinger and Todd Kessler collection contains three original watercolor drawings on paper by Los Carpinteros (Alexandre Arrechea, Marco Castillo, and Dagoberto Rodríguez).
The drawings include:
"Casa de rollos," proyecto para la VII Bienal de La Habana, 2000. A watercolor drawing proposal for a house made from rolls of canvas.
Public art project, 2001. A watercolor drawing of a four-shaped swimming pool on an asphalt road marked with broken yellow divider lines.
Teatro [prototype for the Transportable City Series], 2001. A watercolor drawing of a bivouac tent decorated with camouflage with four extension windowed wings and a fifth semi-circular wing in the rear.
The Pedro Hernández papers contain materials relating to art and art exhibitions of Cuban-born sculptor Pedro Hernández. Materials include exhibit programs and catalogs, newspaper clippings and biographical information.
The Artist files contain materials related to the professional and artistic work of visual artists from Cuba and of Cuban descent. The files in this colletion contain exhibit catalogs, clippings, and ephemera related to visual artists and their work. The collection also contains files on art galleries that show the work of visual artists in group shows.
Series 1 contains files on individual visual artists, including show catalogs, promotional materials, postcards and programs for galleries, and other ephemera relating to the work of individuals Materials are organized alphabetically by last name in each box. Series two contains exhibit catalogs, announcments, and other ephemera related to group shows at art galleries featuring multiple Cuban artists or of galleries that support and regularly exhibit Cuban art. Materials are organized alphebetically by gallery or venue name.
The Elia Rosa F. Mendia Collection contains the personal papers of Cuban sculptor Elia Rosa Mendia.
The collection contains documents, articles, photos and newspaper clippings; a Lyceum Lawn & Tennis Club pamphlet; correspondence from sculptor Alfredo Tozano and others; and a booklet from the Cuban Museum of Art and Culture's exhibit on Cuban women.
The Julia P. Herzberg, Ph.D. collection contains artist portfolios, clippings, and visual arts files.
The collection also contains an interview between Julia P. Herzberg and Helena (Holzer) Benitez, former wife of artist Wifredo Lam from 1944 to 1950. The interview took place on February 7, 1990, at 1125 Park Avenue, New York, NY, then home of Julia P. Herzberg. The discussion centers on Helena's memories of Wifredo’s paintings, his practice, their cultural life in Havana, the artist’s family, his relationship with Lydia Cabrera, and his relationship to Afro-Cubanism.
Ephemera, exhibition catalogs, newsletters, and books related to Miami's contemporary art scene. Items featured in the collection document much of César Trasobares' personal life work as a local Cuban-American artist whose pieces often illustrate ties to his heritage as well as touching upon various topics, such as poverty, homosexuality, religion, social issues, and personal expression.
The Julio Hernández Rojo collection is comprised of original drawings and works on paper by Julio Hernández Rojo. The collection also contains his death sentence while in prison in Cuba.
