Scope and content

Items in this series were selected for digitization by the donor as the most important in the collection. They include letters and other correspondence including manuscripts, clippings, programs and other items sent and received by Fulgencio Batista and selected because of the prominence of the correspondents, and a selection of photographs including photos of Fulgencio Batista, his family and their personal surroundings, official portraits and groups, and other photographs of Batista government associates, public works and events of that era. Subseries A-D is arranged alphabetically by name of correspondent; arranged as follows under each name: correspondence by and to Batista, related clippings, documents, publications and works by others; subseries E is arranged by association/institution with correspondents’ names in alphabetical order within each category. Photographs in sub-series F-H are arranged chronologically by decade; F and G are further subdivided as portraits, group photographs, official events and visits, etc.; sub-series I is grouped by subject with folders in alphabetical order by name; folders sub-subseries 2, Public Works, are arranged in broad categories by type of work (e.g. bridges, roads,). Note: Items in this series were selected by the donor as the most important.
