The Instituto de Estudios Cubanos records includes administrative records, conference materials, academic work by IEC members. The collection also contains a small amount of personal papers of IEC’s founder and long-time leader, María Cristina Herrera. This collection primarily documents the administrative and academic output of the Instituto de Estudios Cubanos, a Miami-based think tank founded by Herrera in the late 1960s to the early 2000s that worked to promote peaceful dialogue on Cuban politics and policy issues.

This collection is arranged in three series. Series 1 contains the administrative records of the Instituto de Estudios Cubanos, including pamphlets, correspondence, clippings and ephemera. Series 2 consists of materials produced by the membership of IEC for conferences, seminars and academic outlets. Series 3 contains the personal papers of founder María Cristina Herrera.

This collection is open for research. Student materials are restricted.

This collection is housed off-campus and must be requested a minimum of seven calendar days in advance for consultation in the Cuban Heritage Collection Reading Room.
