Biografie
Juan A. del Regato was one of several hundred Cuban medical students expelled from the University of Havana in 1927 due to protests against President Gerardo Machado. Approximately 130 of these students relocated and continued their studies at the Université de Paris in France. Many of these students returned to Cuba and acquired great prestige as physicians.
Juan A. del Regato graduated from the Université de Paris in 1937 and came to the United States in 1938. He collected the theses of several of his fellow Cuban scholars in France, and donated them to the Otto G. Richter Library in 1988.

The Juan A. del Regato collection consists of theses, publications, awards, lectures, and general information pertaining to several Cuban medical students who graduated from the Université de Paris from 1929 to 1940, among other material found in Juan A. del Regato's personal papers.
Ordeningstelsel
This collection is arranged into four series:
Series 1 (Box 1): Theses by Cuban students of medicine who graduated from Université de Paris from 1929 through 1940.
Series 2 (Box 2): Publications by and about Juan A. del Regato.
Series 3 (Box 3): Miscellaneous: awards, lectures, diplomas, and general information about the Cuban students of medicine from Université de Paris.
Series 4 (Boxes 4-5): Materials related to Carlos J. Finlay. They include correspondence, biographical data, photographs, and research papers about yellow fever.
