Biographical history

William Walker was a professor in the University of Miami’s Otto G. Richter Library from 2003–2013, where he served as both Dean and University Librarian. Prior to joining UM, Walker was the Senior Vice President and Andrew W. Mellon Director of the New York Public Library, where he oversaw the Research Libraries’ programs. He also served as a consultant to the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, the British Library, Japan’s National Diet Library, the National Library of Brazil, the Union Theological Seminary, and the Museum of Modern Art.
