Scope and content
This series consists of records pertaining to the Pan Am Building (now MetLife Building) located next to Grand Central Terminal in midtown Manhattan in New York City. Once the largest commercial office building in the world, the building was developed by Erwin S. Wolfson with the assistance of the architects Emery Roth & Sons, Walter Gropius, and Pietro Belluschi, and completed in 1963. This series includes records pertaining to the heliport facility on the building's roof, which offered helicopter service from Manhattan to the three major New York area airports.
