[Vendor description]: "The printed caption states: 'The First Flight - Every student at the Army Air Forces Flexible Gunnery School at Tyndall Field, Fla., looks forward to his first flight in a heavy four engine bomber, which is part of the air-to-air raining given with simulated combat conditions' and listing the airmen.

One of the aviation cadets in the photograph, Roscoe J. Dabney, Jr., graduated from Tuskegee Institute with the rank of Second Lieutenant. He served with the Tuskegee Airmen, during World War II."

  • Conservation: Vintage photograph. Original gelatin silver print. Measuring 8" x 10". The photograph has a long, horizontal crease along the lower edge of the image, with a few other moderate creases at corners and extremities and the verso has two spots of glue residue (where the carbon typescript caption was one affixed), else good to very good condition.
