Cenicacelaya is an award-winning architect with degrees from both the University of Navarra in Pamplona, Spain, and Oxford University in England. Cenicacelaya has also taught at the University of the Basque Country in Spain, at Oxford, at the Architectural Association in London and at the British School in Rome. He was, until 1989, editor of Composicion Arquitectonica, Art and Architecture, a glossy, full-color bilingual journal.
He replaces John Thomas Regan, who was the first dean of the seven-year-old architecture school.
