The Honors Day Convocation ceremony (begun in 1960 as Academic Honors Day) was established as a celebration of academic excellence. The Convocation recognizes distinguished undergraduates from all disciplines, outstanding members of the various honor societies and honors students to be graduated with General Honors. The different colleges, schools, departments, and academic honor societies select their most outstanding graduating seniors, and the Honors Program acknowledges students who have fulfilled the requirements to be graduated with General Honors.
