Senator Mel Martinez papers

The Senator Mel Martinez Papers, donated to the University of Miami in 2010, consist primarily of records created during Martinez’s service as a United States Senator for Florida from 2005 to 2009.  Comprised of 89 boxes, the collection includes legislative and committee files, schedules and appointments, correspondence with constituents and colleagues, speeches and floor statements, media coverage, casework files, campaign files, and administrative office records.  The collection also includes photographs, audiovisual materials, and electronic records that date primarily from 1998 to 2009, but also includes scans of photographs and memorabilia relating to Martinez’s childhood in Cuba and immigration to the United States.  Topics of research include American legislative history, Mel Martinez’s committee assignments, Florida projects, immigration, United States relations with Cuba, services for the elderly, and Florida’s environment, including issues relating to offshore oil drilling.

The Miami Woman’s Club Records document the club’s history, as well as its civic, community, and social activities from 1903-2004.The records include minutes from 1903-1914, 1921-1929, 1936-1939, and 1959-1967. The collection also includes yearbooks from 1907-2004, as well as correspondence (correspondents include: Judge Edith M. Atkinson, Louise Austin, Alice Johnston, Anne Stevenson Brown, Katherine B. Trippetts, Katherine S. Fitts, and Eva J. Lewis), financial reports, programs, photographs, and other documentation. Also included are over 50 scrapbooks documenting club activities, membership, and events dating from 1919-1979.

Model Land Company records

American petroleum baron and founder of the Florida East Cost Railroad, Henry Flagler (1830-1913) created the Model Land Company (MLC) in 1896 to manage his rapidly expanding real estate holdings in the state of Florida. The Model Land Company Records do not represent the comprehensive records of the MLC but does constitute a large portion of the surviving records. The files consist of the administrative and financial records of the MLC's Miami-based land agent, Frederick S. Morse, and those agencies that followed Morse: Pepper and Potter; Pepper and Coffrin, Inc.; Frank J. Pepper and Son, Inc.; and Frank J. Pepper, Inc.

Billy Matthews papers

The Billy Matthews collection documents the work of Terry Miller and Terry Helbing co-founders in the 1980's of the Meridian Gay Theater Production Company in New York. The archives include typescripts, clippings, articles, contact lists, reviews, and research files on various plays, theatrical history, and playwrights. The correspondence reflects the administrative history of the Meridian Gay Theater.

Frost Museum of Science collection

The Frost Museum of Science had originally opened in 1950 under the name the Junior Museum of Miami and has since underwent several renovations and relocations. It had also been renamed in 1952 as the Museum of Science and Natural History and once again renamed in 2011 after Phillip and Patricia, two wealthy and influential Miami philanthropists who have donated and supported various educational institutes and museums throughout South Florida, including the University of Miami. In its current inception, the Frost Museum of Science is located in Downtown Miami's waterfront Museum Park and offers a variety of STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math)-based exhibits, lectures, and shows. It is particularly well-known for hosting the show Star Gazers with Jack Horheimer (formerly Jack Horheimer: Star Hustlers and Jack Horheimer: Star Gazer).

This collection includes typescripts for the Star Gazers (Star Hustler) planetarium show, research files, exhibit files, exhibit prints, convention proceedings, pamphlets, historical news clippings, ephemera, periodicals, scrapbooks, photographs, event files, administrative records, and other archival documents pertaining to the Frost Museum of Science's day-to-day operations.

Haitian Student Organization collection

Haitian Student Organization collection consists of memorabilia kept in a time capsule, such as organizational records, event brochures, meeting minutes, newsletters, photographs, the Haitian national flag, and news clippings, buried on October 16, 2004 and opened on October 18, 2014.  The collection was donated by the Planet Kreyol Haitian Student Organization of the University of Miami to the University Archives in January 2015.

The donor, Planet Kreyol, was founded in 1993 at the University of Miami as the Haitian Student Organization and later renamed as Planet Kreyol. Their mission is to promote cultural awareness while servicing the community and preserving the ancestry of Haiti.

Topics covered include development for low income housing, gentrification, public housing, and privately run detention centers. In particular, the materials discuss the Scott Homes/Hope VI housing revitalization plan and the Reese v. Miami-Dade County court case; the Sawyer's Walk (Overtown) and Crosswinds (Overtown) redevelopment projects; the Manuel et al. v. city of Lake Worth court case; and the Miami Workers Centers Transit HUB. Other organizations mentioned in the files include Power U Center for Social Change and Florida Immigrant Coalition (FLIC).
