Box 22: Photo Album: "Photographs of Florida: Crescent City, Oakwood, Lan Lui, and Lake Worth"

"A very large and heavy oblong album ... Contains 51 stiff card album leaves. Only 14 of those leaves contain photographs. 9 leaves contain 113 images on both the rectos and versos of Florida. 1 leaf contains 5 large images of the Adirondacks on both recto and verso, and 4 leaves contain images of scenes along the Canadian Pacific Line, Manitoba, California, and Colorado ... The most prominent section of this album is that devoted to the images from Florida. Photographs include early images of houses, groves, rural scenery, and people. It appears that this must have been a wealthy family that compiled this album. There are also a suite of images which look to be an African American family who worked a local farm. A very early compilation of Florida before it was significantly developed." --Denning House
