Administrative history

Founded in 1925, the University of Miami is a private research university with more than 15,000 students from around the world. It comprises 12 schools and colleges serving undergraduate and graduate students in more than 180 majors and programs.

Scope and content

The collection consists of film and videos depicting the history and development of the University of Miami from its establishment in 1925 to present. These visual works were created by various schools and departments of the University, such as the University Communications, the School of Communication, and the University of Miami Athletics.

Conditions governing access

This collection is open for research, however some of the items in the collection are recorded in formats, such as Umatic and Betacam tapes, which are not currently playable at the University of Miami Libraries due to the lack of playback equipment and have been digitized into VHS tapes. Please contact the University Archivist, Nick Iwanicki, at ngi5@miami.edu with the boxes you are interested in prior to your visit for more information.

Items from this collection are kept on-campus and may be requested from the first floor Kislak Center in the Otto G. Richter Library at University of Miami.
