Scope and content

Two copies of advertisement for an exhibition of Haitian photography. Front features a photo of Charlemagne Peralte, the leader of the Haitian Caco guerilla movement which resisted the U.S. Occupation of Haiti from 1915-1934. The photo was taken after he was executed by U.S. Marines and was sent as a dterrent, but has since become emblematic of Haitian martyrdom and solidarity.
