The Arnold Reiner collection contains materials related to flight safety operations for Pan American World Airways. The collection includes issues of Flight Ops, a publication of Pan Am's Flight Safety Department; a copy of Pan Am's accident summary from 1959-1991; a 1974 report relating to Pan Am safety and operational concerns.

This collection consists of the technical files and papers of John G. Borger (1913-2011), who served as Pan American World Airways, Inc.'s Vice President and Chief Engineer. His materials document the development and acquisition of: Boeing aircrafts, including the 377 Stratocruiser, B-707 and B-747; the Douglas DC-6B, DC-7B, and DC-7C, the DC-8 jet; the Lockheed Constellation and the L-1011; the Convair CV-240; the Dassault Falcon 20, 10, and 50; the Pratt and Whitney and Rolls Royce engines, including the JT9D; and the Supersonic Transport (SST) aircraft.

Types of materials retained in the collection include: pamphlets, programs, engineering information, studies, evaluation reports, manuals, personal notes taken by John G. Borger, lectures, typescripts, correspondence, diagrams, flight path drawings, periodicals, research, articles, ephemera, newsclippings, and 3D material objects.

A small collection of documents, photographs and ephemeral items that relate to Patricia Williams' period of employment at Pan Americal World Airways. This archive contains financial records, editions of the Pan American "Clipper" newspaper, work-related correspondence between Williams and the management at PAA, information about the insurance benefits provided to PAA employees, and other related items.

Harold M. Bixby (1890-1965) was a business developer who helped sponsor and organize Charles Lindbergh's "Spirit of St. Louis" flight from New York to Paris in 1927. In the 1930's he was key in setting up Pan Am air routes in China through the China National Aviation Corp. and helped pioneer China's first trans-atlantic flight aboard the China Clipper in 1935. He later served as the vice president of Pan Am until his retirement in 1955.

Captain Price was a commercial airline pilot with Pan American World Airways for 32 years, and his records contain materials that span from 1940s-1990s.

From 1926 to 1991, Eastern Airlines had endured as one of the major and more well known airlines in the Americas. This collection captures important fragments of its long history and its influence on the airline industry through the eyes of its former employees and passengers. The materials contained within include: ephemera, 3D objects, uniforms, manuals, administrative files, photographs, albums, and other types of documents pertaining to Eastern Airlines.

Almost all items contained in this collection have been generously donated to the University of Miami by individuals donating on behalf of the Eastern Airlines Retiree Association [EARA], or former employees who have contributed to the collection on an individual basis.

This collection contains aviation research related to the loss of Flight 7, PAA-94, Pan American Clipper Romance of the Skies in the mid-Pacific on November 8, 1957. Included within are documents, photographs, notes, memoranda of conversations, and interview transcripts used in the research and writing of two magazine articles by Gregg Herken and Ken Fortenberry. Also included in the collection are the articles which appeared in Air & Space and Smithsonian magazines.
