University of Miami Academic Deans' Council
The Council is made up of the deans of the various schools and colleges who meet to discuss matters of academic policy.
University of Miami Alumni Association
The University of Miami Alumni Association was founded in 1930 and governed by a volunteer board of directors. The UMAA is committed to encouraging lifelong education, providing quality services and programming, and assisting in the continued development and enhancement of the University of Miami.
The University of Miami’s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is dedicated to developing and supporting its student-athletes in their efforts to achieve personal, academic and athletic excellence.
The Miami Hurricanes football team represents the University of Miami in the sport of American football. The program began in 1926 and they have won five AP national championships in 1983, 1987, 1989, 1991, and 2001.
University of Miami Board of Trustees
The University of Miami is governed by a Board of Trustees that includes many of South Florida’s most prominent business and community leaders. Founded in 1925, the University appointed a Board of Regents in 1926; in 1934 the University was reincorporated and the Board of Trustees was established. Today the board has 31 elected members, three alumni representatives, 27 senior members, 6 national members, 6 ex-officio members, 19 emeriti members, and one student representative.
University of Miami Campus Planning and Development Department
The Campus Planning and Development Department leads a variety of institutional initiatives, including master planning, transportation, parking and mobility, design guidelines, zoning, government regulations, and historic preservation, while balancing the needs of the University with its neighbors.
University of Miami. Cash Management Office
The Cash Management office is responsible for banking, working capital investments, and sales of securities when gifted to the University. Permission of the Office of the President required to research the collection.
University of Miami. Center for Advanced International Studies
The Center for Advanced International Studies was established in 1964 with responsibility for coordinating and developing work in the international field among the various schools and department of the University, conducting interdisciplinary gradute courses leading to graduate degrees, and conduction interdisciplinary research in international affairs.
University of Miami Center for Hemispheric Policy
The North-South Center was created in 1984 to serve primarily as a national and hemispheric resource for the development of trade, economic, and migration policy. The center’s funding was first authorized by the U.S. Congress by the North-South Center Act of 1990. It received federal funding each year through annual appropriations, and became a part of the budget of the State Department. The act authorized the United States Information Agency to “provide for the operation in Florida of an educational institution to be known as the North-South Center, through arrangements with public, educational or other nonprofit institutions.” In 2005 the Center was replaced by the Center for Hemispheric Policy.

The Center for Latin American Studies at the University of Miami works to integrate the energies, ideas, and experiences of scholars, students, and other individuals who share a common while diverse interest in Latin America and the Caribbean—their peoples, societies, environments, and global connections—fostering new knowledge, dialogue and cooperation, innovative education, and constructive, forward-looking engagement.

The College of Arts and Sciences Center for the Humanities at the University of Miami was established in 2009 to support humanities, arts, and interpretive social science research and teaching, as well as to bringing to the Miami community an awareness of the importance of the humanities for a more informed understanding of our own and other cultures. Through lectures, conferences, seminars, and workshops, scholars present their work, elicit critical responses, and stimulate public awareness and debate about the humanities. The goal of the Center is to provide mutual understanding among groups and cultures, provide support for research in the humanities, and enrich the intellectual culture of the University and community.

University of Miami. Center for Theoretical Studies
The Center for Theoretical Studies was established in 1965. The purpose of the Center was to provide a forum for studies in theoretical physics and related fields to be carried out by short term visitors, postdoctoral researchers, long term members of the Center, and various faculty of the University.
University of Miami. Center for Urban & Community Design
The CUCD was founded in 1992 in the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew with the mission of fostering a collaborative interdisciplinary approach that supports the buttressing, retro-fitting and creation of sustainable communities and buildings. The Center seeks to integrate research, teaching, and service, encouraging interdisciplinary thought and action in the areas of historic preservation, urban design & community engagement, and, sustainable & resilient design in the sub-tropics and tropics. The Center assists or leads faculty, alumni and students in funded research, publications, and community partnerships, workshops and charrettes.
University of Miami. Center for Urban and Regional Studies
The Center for Urban and Regional Studies was established in the mid-1960s as a way to combine resources in a coodinated interdisciplinary center for research in the study and resolution of problems in urban and environmental problems. It also supported an academic program offering a master's degree. Because of lack of funding, the Center ceased operations in 1975, except for the academic studies aspect which continued to function independently.
