Hernández, Eduardo "Guayo", 1916-1978
Eduardo "Guayo" Hernández was a Cuban reporter, cinematographer, and director of the news programs Noticuba and Cineperiodico. He was one of Cuba's most celebrated television reporters in the pre-revolutionary era.
Hernández Lovio, Pedro, 1903-1966
Pedro Hernández Lovio was a lawyer and judge in Santa Maria del Rosario, Cuba, as well as the last secretary of the Diario de la Marina newspaper. He left Cuba in 1960 and passed away in 1966.
Virginia Hern (1924-2004) was born in San Luis, Oriente, Cuba. She wrote articles for newspapers such as the Miami Herald and Nuevo Herald as well as a fiction novel, “El Otro.”

On January 19, 1993, the Board of Trustees Executive Committee passed a resolution renaming the Ring Theatre as “The Jerry Herman Theatre Complex,” in honor of Mr. Herman’s professional success, and long-term generosity to and support of the University.

He is a recipient of the 2010 Kennedy Center Honors.
