Guy Pérez-Cisneros (1915-1953) was a Cuban diplomat and art critic active in the 20th century.

Born in Paris, Pérez-Cisneros was educated in Spain, France, and Cuba, graduating with a doctorate from the University of Havana and later studying journalism.

Pérez-Cisneros held various posts in Cuba’s diplomatic corps from 1934 until his death in 1953, while also maintaining his interest in the art world. He was named interim head of the Cuban State Department’s Office of the League of Nations and secretary general of the Instituto Nacional de Artes Plásticas (1939). Major writings include Presencia de ocho pintores (1937) and Características de la evolución de la pintura en Cuba (published posthumously in 1959).

Most notably, Pérez-Cisneros was secretary general of the Cuban delegation to the United Nations Preparatory Committee (1945-1946). In 1949 he was named spokesman for the Cuban commission of UNESCO and Cuban delegate to the fourth assembly of the United Nations. Pérez-Cisneros also served as Cuban delegate to the UN Economic and Social Council for the organization’s seventh and eighth assemblies (1952-1953).

He was married to Berta Barreto de los Heros from 1937 until their divorce in 1943. She would later be involved in the freeing of Bay of Pigs political prisoners in the early 1960s. Pérez-Cisneros died unexpectedly in Havana at the age of 38 in 1953.

Marta Pérez was a Cuban mezzo-soprano opera singer. She performed a number of Cuban and classical opera pieces, including those of Gonzalo Roig. She was the first Cuban to sing in Milan's La Scala opera house. In 1967, she co-founded the Miami-based Hispanic theater group Pro-Arte Grateli. She also directed a number of performances.

Gladys Pérez is a journalist and professor. Born in Cuba in 1947, she worked as a journalist at the Instituto Cubano de Radio y Televisión and was a professor at the Universidad de La Habana and the Centro Internacional de Estudios de Comunicación para América Latina (CIESPASL) in Ecuador. A documentary filmmaker and photographer, she is the author of five books. Pérez has lived in the United States since 1995, where she worked at ZUBI Advertising.

Manuel Pereiras García was born in Cifuentes, Cuba in 1950 and is the author and translator of numerous plays in English and Spanish. His works have been performed at Mercy College, Dumé Spanish Theatre, Stonewall Repertory Theatre, Theatre of New City, and INTAR Theatre. Pereiras García has also written about the history of theater with a focus on Cuban and Spanish drama. In 1998, his complete plays were published by Presbyter’s Peartree. He currently resides in New York City.

Fermín Peraza Sarausa (1907-1969) was a leading Cuban librarian and bibliographer who directed the Havana Municipal Library from 1933 until 1959, during which the institution grew into one of the most notable libraries in Latin America. He also edited the Revista Bibliográfica Cubana. He died in 1969 in the United States.
