Julia P. Herzberg, Ph.D., is an art historian, independent curator, and Fulbright grantee who has taught, lectured, and published extensively both in the United States and internationally. She earned her doctorate from the City University of New York in 1997, with her dissertation titled “Ana Mendieta in Iowa (1969-1978): A Critical Study.” Dr. Herzberg’s research addresses a wide range of cross-disciplinary issues, focusing on artistic processes and the thematic and conceptual concerns of contemporary art. Over her career, she has curated more than thirty-five exhibitions featuring renowned artists such as Carlos Alfonzo, Navjot Altaf, Mónica Bengoa, Máximo Corválan-Pincheira, Leandro Erlich, Paz Errazuriz, Magdalena Fernández, María Magdalena Campos-Pons, Kaarina Kaikkonen, Leandro Katz, Wifredo Lam, Iván Navarro, Nela Ochoa, Pepón Osorio, Catalina Parra, Liliana Porter, Raquel Rabinovich, Lotty Rosenfeld, Franco Mondini-Ruiz, Juan Sánchez, and Monika Weiss.

Esther Herrera was a leader of the Cuban exile community in Los Angeles, particularly active in the 1980s. She worked with several exile organizations, including the Sociedad José Martí of Hawthorne, California, and Comité Pro-Acto 10 de Octubre.

Pedro Hernández was born in Havana in 1932, and originally trained as a physician. A self-taught artist, Hernández is known most for his work as a sculptor, especially in the medium of wood. Often working in the abstract, Hernández is well regarded for the influence of Caribbean cultures in his works and has exhibited at galleries throughout the United States and South Florida, as well as Europe.

Leopoldo Hernández is a Cuban lawyer, writer, and dramatist who resides in the United States. He has written a number of books and plays, including “Teatro de la Revolución,” “La espalda,” “La consagración del miedo” and “Los hombres mueren solos.”

Jorge L. Hernandez, received a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Miami in 1980 and a Master of Architecture from the University of Virginia in 1985. He then worked for Eisenman Roberton Architects and taught at The University of Virginia. In 1987 he joined the faculty of the University of Miami and established his firm. His work includes The Brickell Bridge in Miami, Florida; The Williamsburg James City County Courthouse in Williamsburg, Virginia, both secured by winning entries in international competitions; and The Coral Gables Museum, a LEED certified renovation and addition to a National Register 1939 Phineas Paiste building. He has lectured in the US and Europe, taught for the Prince of Wales Institute of Architecture and participated in numerous international symposia and conferences. His work has been published internationally.
