Biographical history
Sara Yaballi, a nurse, graduated from the University of Havana in 1934. She worked with the Consejo Nacional de Tuberculosis and later with the rector of the University of Havana. She arrived in Miami in July 1961 to escape the communist regime in Cuba. Sara Yaballi was hired by Monsignor Bryan O. Walsh in 1961 to be the head nurse at the Matecumbe Camp in Florida until the camp closed in October 1962. She later worked at Mercy Hospital and in private practices until her retirement in 1991.

Scope and content
The Sara Yaballi Papers contain the correspondence and other materials of Sara Yaballi, head nurse at Camp Matecumbe in West Dade, FL during Operation Pedro Pan during from 1961-1962.
The collection primarily consists of correspondence from Pedro Pans and their families to Sara Yaballi from 1961-1963. Also included are prayers and an autograph book.

The collection is arranged into two series: Correspondence from Pedro Pans and Correspondence from the families of Pedro Pans. Papers are arranged in alphabetical order by last name of correspondent.
