Biographical history

Antonio Fernández Reboiro was born in Nuevitas, Camagüey, the son of Spanish immigrants Antonio Fernández de La Fuente and Julia Reboiro Vásquez. Between 1960 and 2003 he designed works for theater and music groups in Madrid as well as different groups all through Spain. His works are located in The Museum of Modern Art in New York; Musée de L’Affiche et la Publicité and the Centre National d’Art et de Culture George Pompidou in Paris; the National Gallery in London; the Museo del Cartel in Varsovia; the Cuban Heritage Collection at the University of Miami; and the Museo Carlos Maside in Spain, along with many other museums all around the world.

Scope and content

The Antonio Fernández Reboiro collection contains materials and artwork collected and created by Cuban artist Antonio Fernández Reboiro. A large part of the collection consists of art books and periodicals, books on the Orquestra Nacional de España, and materials on Hispanic theater, all predominantly dating from the 1970s to 1980s. The other large part of the collection is made up of posters with original artwork by Reboiro for various film and theater productions, many  of which were for Cuban productions.

This collection is arranged into two series. Series 1 contains books and periodicals collected by Antonio Fernández Reboiro. Series 2 consists of original posters for film and theater by Antonio Fernández Reboiro.

This collection is open for research.

Physical access

Boxes 1-3, containing books, periodicals, and pamphlets, are housed off-campus and must be requested a minimum of seven calendar days in advance for consultation in the Cuban Heritage Collection Reading Room. Posters are housed on-site.
