Scope and content

The San Carlos Institute Records contain reports, clippings, financial records and articles about the San Carlos Institute, San Carlos School, San Carlos Theater and Cuban Consulate.

System of arrangement

The Records are arranged into five series.

Series I: General Files (boxes 1-2) consists of financial records, minutes and clippings of the San Carlos Institute and correspondence of its members.  It also contains leases of the building in which San Carlos is housed and material on the San Carlos Theaters.

Series II: San Carlos School (boxes 3-10) contains financial records, by-laws, schedules and reports of the San Carlos School and its teachers and student works and records.  The series also contains correspondence of Benildes Remond Isern, one of the school administrators.

Series III: Cuban Consulate (box 11) consists of reports, correspondence, clippings and financial records of the Cuban Consulate located in Key West.

Series IV: Topical Files (box 12) consists of reports and material on Cuba  and Key West.

Series V: Miscellaneous (boxes 13-14) consists of oversized material, including an award, by-laws, illustrations, periodical publications and artifacts.
