The first series consists of typewritten transcripts of interviews with Fidel Castro and 30 Cubans inside and outside of the Cuban government. These interviews formed the bulk of original research material for his book Fidel: A Critical Portrait (New York: Morrow, 1986). All interviews were conducted and transcribed in Spanish. This series has been further subdivided into three sub-series.
