In 1989, the Division of Communication Services, which since 1961 had been a centralized audiovisual department for schools and departments under the Provost's office, and later under the College of Arts and Sciences, became a unit of the School of Communication. In its heyday, it had produced countless educational television programs in Natural Sciences, Humanities, and Social Sciences for large classes taught in the Whitten Learning Center. The title of Communication Services changed to CAMM (Center for the Advancement of Modern Media) in 1995.
The University began offering Evening Division courses in 1926, as described in the University Bulletin "for the benefit of young men and women employed during the day." The Divison of Continuing Education was established in 1964. They were later combined in one unit and called the Divison of Continuing and International Education.
The Division of Development Affairs (now known as the Department of Development under the administration of the Division of University Advancement) originated in 1939 as a separate office for fund raising. The unit has grown greatly over the years, with a larger staff and budget and a wider reach.
The Division of Enrollment Management at the University of Miami includes the Office of Admission, Officed of International Admission, Office of Financial Assistance Services, Office of Student Employment, Office of Technical Operations, Office of Market Research & e-Communications, and Office of Retention ('Cane Success Center).
The Division of Student Affairs is responsible for all aspects of student learning and student life. Student Affairs educates students in community living, social intelligence and responsibility, ethical behavior, citizenship skills and social justice, leadership skills, coping with adversity, health and wellness, diversity, and adaptive skills for living.
Under the leadership of George Gwin, President, Jack Hazen, Vice-President, and Joan Banninster, Secretary-Treasurer, the activities of the Society began with its first meeting of the new school year on October 10, 1952.
The Graduate School of the University of Miami offers over 50 doctoral programs on three campuses (Coral Gables, the Miller School of Medicine, and the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science).
